CTRO Participated in the “Munitions in the Sea – Status and Perspectives” symposium in Monaco
On 16 and 17 September 2026, two international events dedicated to the challenges posed by munitions remaining in the marine environment were held in Monaco – the “Munitions in the Sea – Status and Perspectives” symposium and the “Mediterranean and European Atlantic Workshop on Munitions in the Sea.”
The symposium and workshop, organised by CAMMera and MMinE-SwEEPER, brought together researchers, representatives of government institutions, industry, non-governmental and international organisations, as well as other experts working in the fields of mine action and marine environmental protection.
HCR-CTRO was also represented at both events by Ms Katarina Markt, Director of HCR-CTRO, and Ms Željka Krhač, Deputy Director.
Particular emphasis throughout the two-day programme was placed on the importance of international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the development of effective solutions for the identification, removal and disposal of munitions remaining on the seabed.
The events in Monaco reaffirmed that marine munitions represent a shared international challenge that requires a coordinated approach, strong cooperation among experts and institutions, and continued international collaboration.
