Katarina Markt, Managing Director of CTRO took part in the international conference “EU 4 Defence Readiness – Road Map to Future”, held in Zadar on 2 October 2026, bringing together key representatives of the European defence and security community to discuss the future of European defence, strengthening defence capabilities, and enhancing the competitiveness of the European defence industry.

The conference was organised by the Croatian Defence Industry Competitiveness Cluster (HKKOI) and ALAN Agency, with Jutarnji list as the media partner and with the support of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The event brought together representatives of the Croatian and European defence industries, national and European institutions, the Armed Forces, the business community, academia, and international organisations.

The opening address was delivered by Ivan Anušić, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence, representing the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia. Participants were also addressed by Goran Basarac, President of the Management Board of ALAN Agency and President of the Croatian Defence Industry Competitiveness Cluster, and Goran Ogurlić.

Across five thematic panels, participants discussed some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing European defence today – from the evolving geopolitical and security environment, financing and the development of operational capabilities, to the technologies that will shape defence in 2035, innovation, and the strengthening of Europe’s defence industrial base.

The conference “EU 4 Defence Readiness – Road Map to Future” reaffirmed the importance of coordinated action and closer cooperation between the public sector, defence industry, scientific and academic community, and international partners in building a more resilient, competitive and technologically advanced European defence ecosystem.
