Visit of HCR-CTRO representatives to Colombia

Based on the HCR-CTRO project, on a decree of the vice president of the Croatian Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations, and on a Donation Contract, a team of Croatian experts in the field of mine action (CROMAC and HCR-CTRO) visited Colombia last week, with the aim of training and preparing the Colombian side for a procedure of proclaiming legislature governing mine action, with a special emphasis on the following fields:

 
- training on humanitarian demining activities,
- accreditation of demining companies and certification of the equipment used in humanitarian demining; including the establishment and registration of a joint company in Colombia; and
- organization and implementation of quality assessment and quality control of humanitarian demining, including assistance in development of legislature and SOPs.
During their stay in Colombia, the Croatian experts met with the Senator Juan Carlos Velez Uribe; Deputy commander of the Colombian Army; chief of the Planning Sector of the Colombian Army; Adviser to the Colombian Defense Minister, Director of the Colombia without Mines Trust Fund, chief of the Group for Detection of Mine Contaminated Illegal Coca Fields, a division of the Anti Drug Direction (DIRAN).
In addition to the above mentioned meetings, the Croatian team made some operative contacts, where it presented experience and solutions of the Republic of Croatia that, with certain modifications, may be applied in Colombia.
It was agreed to continue collaboration and a visit of Colombian representatives to the Republic of Croatia was announced, as well as the signing of a Collaboration Contract between the two countries (organizations) in the field of mine action.
