TIRAMISU project started

From 11th to 13th January 2012 HCR-CTRO Director Mr. Nikola Pavković and Mr. Milan Bajić attended a Kick-off Meeting of the Project Management Board of the TIRAMISU (Toolbox Implementation for Removal of Anti-personnel Mines, Sub-munitions and UXO) project. The meeting was held in Brussels on the premises of the Royal Military Academy. HCR-CTRO is among 24 scientific and research institutions from 11 countries involved in the project 14.9 million EUR worth.

The project is financed by the European Union within FP7, it started on 1st January 2012 and will finish in four years.
The aim of the project is to develop a toolbox for conducting main mine action activities, from a survey of large areas to removal of explosive remnants of war, including MRE. The majority of the tools that will be developed on the project will be tested at Cerovac and Benkovac test sites owned by HCR-CTRO.
HCR-CTRO will advance the general airborne survey technology, which will be operationally validated in real minefields in Osijek-Baranja County in Croatia; will improve the use of honeybees ad biosensors for mine detection and quality control; and will test and validate other TIRAMISU tools.
With the aim of informing the general public with the project, a presentation of the project and of the HCR-CTRO role within the project will be held on 16th February 2012 at Europe House in Zagreb.
In addition, from 24th to 26th April 2012, the 9th Humanitarian Demining Symposium and Equipment Exhibition will be held in Šibenik. Together with the Symposium, meetings of the Project Managers Board and End Users Board of the TIRAMISU project will be held. In parallel, the International Advanced Robotics Programme (IARP) will hold their HUDEM workshop.
