From 18th to 20th September, at Benkovac test site, research teams from the University of Manchester and University of Zagreb conducted a trial of experimental detection equipment on two complementary research projects.  The aims of the projects are to help counter the problems of discrimination of targets in uncooperative (highly mineralised) soils and to research more advanced electromagnetic detectors to the benefit of the international mine action community.

The trial is financed by the British charity Find a Better Way.

From 13th to 17th June, at Cerovac test site, a demining machine BOŽENA 4+ was tested. The machine is manufactured by a Slovakian company WAY INDUSTRIES a.s., and it was tested with two working tools, a flail and a tiller. It was tested in test lanes, on vegetation clearance and on clearance of antipersonnel and antitank mines.

Based on the request from STT GROUP OF COMPANIES (UTTA Protection Group JSC and the Engineering Commercial Multiprofile Center – 1 Ltd.), 1/1 Krasnoyarskaya Str., Moscow, the Russian Federation, to test their detectors NR-900EK3M EAGLE, NR 2000 and NR12C, , HCR-CTRO conducted the tests at the test-site Cerovac during May 2016. The tests were carried out in accordance with the Test plan and programme elaborated by HCR-CTRO, based on the methodology derived by HCR-CTRO, and in line with basic principles of IMAS 03.40

The tests confirmed that all three detectors can detect targets in given test scenarios.

Based on the request from ROFI as, Norway, to test their FaceMask with visor, HCR-CTRO conducted the tests at the test-site Cerovac on 12th of May 2016.

The real anti-personnel mines, type PMA-1 were used during the tests, and methodologies of IMAS 10.30, Safety & Occupational Health – Personal protective equipment (PPE) were appllied.

The tests confirmed that the Face Mask with visor, made by ROFI as, complies with IMAS 10.30, Safety & Occupational Health – Personal protective equipment (PPE).

From 26th to 29th April, the 13th International Symposium and Equipment Exhibition Mine Action 2016 is being held in Biograd na Moru, under the high patronage of the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović. The Symposium is co-organized by the Government Office for Mine Action, CROMAC and HCR-CTRO, and it is attended by 160 participants from 32 countries. The following topics are discussed: Contamination by ERW, Risks and safety in demining, New technologies, Cooperation and knowledge transfer; and MRE education and survivors’ assistance. The Symposium was declared open by Mr. Stipe Zrilić, Zadarska County Prefect and Envoy of the Croatian President. HRH Prince Mired Bin Raad Al-Hussein of Jordan gave his introductory speech.
