From 27th to 29th November, HCR-CTRO hosted, together with CROMAC, a delegation of the Saudi Arabia. The delegation consisted of representatives of the Engineering Command, Infantry Command, Armed Forces Command, Office of the Chief of Staff and the Navy Command of the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Representatives of HCR-CTRO, led by the director, Mr Nikola Pavković, presented the activities of the Centre, with a special emphasis on a system of the airborne non-technical survey from a drone, training courses and quality management.
In view of the fact that Saudi Arabia is establishing a mine action centre of a regional character, the hosts offered advice and transfer of knowledge. The leader of the visiting delegation said that they were impressed with the Croatian mine action system and that they will be glad to base their centre on the Croatian model.

The Counter Improvised Explosive Devices Centre Of Excellence has invited HCR-CTRO to present at the 3rd Counter IED Technology Workshop held in Madrid from 24th to 26th October 2017 (http://c-ied-techws-madrid.com/introduction/) on the testing of NR-900EK3M EAGLE, NR 2000 and NR12C detectors. The workshop was strictly focused on technologies in support of countering improvised explosive devices.

A kick-off meeting of the project entitled Biological Methods (Bees) for Explosive Detection was held on the premises of HCR-CTRO on 3rd November 2017. The project is financed by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.

The participants of the project are: HCR-CTRO, project coordinator, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences from the University of Zagreb, University from Banja Luka and University from St. Andrews.

Duration of the project is three years, and its goal is to develop innovative methods and technologies for landmine detection through the advancement and integration of current state of the art techniques – honeybees in combination with explosive vapour sensors and advanced imaging techniques.

HCR-CTRO has conducted a training course for the staff of the Russian company EMERCOM DEMINING on the subject of management in demining. The training course was conducted in Paraćin, Serbia, from 23rd to 28th October for 18 employees of EMERCOM DEMINING.
The trainees were qualified for project managers, site managers, team leaders and internal control officers. All the trainees showed very good knowledge at the final exam.
This was the second training course implemented by HCR-CTRO for this Russian company.

On 4th September, HCR-CTRO started a trial of the Zone Depollution System (SDZ) machine, manufactured by a French company CEFA. The trial will last four weeks, and it will be conducted in line with the IMAS Test and Evaluation Protocol for machines (CWA 15044).

Upon the request of the CEFA Company, HCR-CTRO will conduct performance tests in three lanes (sand, gravel and topsoil) with 450 mines, 150 in each lane. Penetration pattern and depth will also be recorded. Vegetation clearance will be tested as well.
