First stage of MRE for Syrian refugees completed

From 29th March to 10th April, HCR-CTRO conducted the first stage of the project “Mine Action – Education of Syrian Refugees in Refugee Camps“, financed by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs from the development assistant programme. The training was conducted in cooperation with the Jordanian Nacional Centre for Demining and Rehabilitation (NCDR) in the town of Mafraq, for forty trainees from Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. It was a train-the-trainer course on mine risk education (MRE). The trainees are qualified to transfer the mine risk awareness messages and knowledge among the Syrian population upon their return to Syria.

The trainees were awarded Certificates of Completion by Ms. Jenny Oštarić Vunjak, Head of Division for Implementation of Development Policies, Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Adnan Telfah, representative of NCDR and Mr. Nikola Pavković, HCR-CTRO director.

The second stage of the project will be implemented in refugee camps in Turkey or Lebanon.
